Liana's Ransom

Liana's Ransom is a steel hulled, gaff rigged square topsail replica privateer schooner. She cruises out of Historic Properties in Halifax conducting harbour tours and private charters. She also operates as a Boat and Breakfast. In the winter months she offers weekly charters in the Caribbean. The schooner is armed with four black powder cannons and a colourful crew dressed in period clothing, complete with flintlock pistols and cutlasses. The crew all hail from the same family, whose grandfather was a fisherman from Devils Island and whose great grandfather sailed from Halifax over 100 years ago on sealing and fishing schooners. The vessel was built in Seabrook, Texas. Orginally designed as a staysail schooner, she has been rigged as a square topsail schooner, tipycal of the rig used by privateers during the late 1700's to early 1800's.
