Larinda is a modified replica of the Boston schooner Sultana built in 1767. Larinda sank at the museum wharf in Halifax during Hurricane Juan on September 29, 2003. After her sinking, she was acquired by a new owner and is now owned and operated by Larinda Limited. Larinda has since been undergoing extensive restoration. Prior to Hurricane Juan, the vessel covered many miles and became known to many tall ship enthusiasts. She will be docked at Larinda’s Landing Oceanfront Cottages, named in her honour, in Boutilier’s Point, Nova Scotia. Larinda has many hand-carved treasures aboard including whimsical sea horses serving as stair rails, graceful dolphins cavorting at the end of benches, and a dapper frog decked out in a tricorne hat and waistcoat standing lookout on the bow.
