Harvey Gamage will be attending Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival 2007
Owned by the Ocean Classroom Foundation, the schooner Harvey Gamage sails on programs of education under sail for the youth of America.  Programs range from a four month semester-at-sea to week-long programs with schools and youth groups.  Trainees sail the ship and learn traditional seamanship skills under the captain and crew, while they explore maritime subjects with the onboard academic staff.  The Ocean Classroom program is a semester-at-sea for qualified high school students, fully accredited by Proctor Academy.  The voyage covers more than 4,000 nautical miles, connecting South American shores to the Canadian Maritimes.  Students live and work as sailors on a true voyage of discovery, while they study maritime history, maritime literature, marine science, applied mathematics and navigation.  Ocean Classroom is offered Fall, Spring and Summer terms.  Other programs include SEAmester (a complete semester-at-sea for college credit), OceanBound (for high school and college students), and Summer Seafaring Camp (for teens age 13 – 16).  The Ocean Classroom Foundation also owns and operates the schooners Spirit of Massachusetts and Westward.
